PPSA Nail Challenge – Red

Gift Button

Hi everyone! Welcome to June! Wait, what? It’s JUNE?! Not quite sure when that happened, but here we are. This entire month all my nail posts will be for the Polished Pretties South Africa Nail Challenge. Polished Pretties South Africa is a Facebook group started by the Nail Anarchy ladies and we decided to do a month long challenge and open it up to everyone. You don’t have to be a member of the group to participate, but if you have a love for polish, why not join our group anyway? The challenge is also not compulsory for group members. It’s all just for fun 🙂 I posted the prompts up on my Instagram a while ago, but I will put it in the beginning of each challenge post for reference. The hashtag for the challenge is #PPSAnailchallenge in case you want to tag us in to see your work. Here are all the prompts and the dates:#PPSAnailchallengeI chose to do red first as it was my mid week mani and I needed to do something more simple due to my time constraints. The more intricate work is left for my Sunday manis 🙂 The idea is that there will be 1 simple and one more advanced prompt per week. Apparently we are not meant to combine prompts into one mani. I asked cos I’m lazy like that 😉 I was all ready to do a red unicorn! I’m not sure what I would have done come purple traffic, but now I don’t have to worry about that. It doesn’t matter what order the prompts are done in per week (like I did red first), as long as they are posted within the specified date range with Sundays being the deadline. Here is what I came up with for the red prompt:

#PPSAnailchallenge RedI started off with my L.A. Girl base coat and painted 2 coats of an unnamed red polish on all of my nails. This red polish was a gift and had no brand name or colour name on the bottle. That really annoys me, but it isn’t like it is a very unique red and I’m sure you can find something similar in a different brand. The bottle was also a bit beaten up, so I chose not to use it in the photos. This red has a good formula and is SUPER shiny and squishy like a jelly, but more opaque. On my thumb, ring and pinkie nails I painted 1 coat of Sinful Colors Unwrap Me over the red. Unwrap me has a mix of different sized black hex glitter and sparkly red hex glitters suspended in a clear base. I actually really love the way this glitter looks over red! Initially I thought to use red and white glitter, but when I decided to use black for the “clouds” I switched it up. On my index and middle nail I used Sinful Colors Black on Black and China Glaze Just Be-Claws to create the “clouds”. I sealed it all in with a coat of Seche Vite.

What do you think? I would really love it if you guys would take part in the challenge. Check out the inlinkz below to see what others have done, you can add your links as well 🙂 You can find the inlinkz codes on Michelle’s blog here. The more the merrier!
