Essence #lucky and Sally Hansen Fruit-ta-ta

Purchased Myself Button

Hi everyone! After 4 back to back black manicures I needed some colour in my life! After Michelle from Ordinary Misfit fame shared a recent polish haul and alerted me to a sale at Dischem I was itching to buy some polish. My bestie who had just given birth needed something  from the pharmacy, I offered to get it 😉  I picked up a few polishes, including the 2 I’ll be showing you today. This is what I came up with:essence #lucky and Sally Hansen I started off with an L.A. Girl base coat to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of essence #lucky on all of my nails. Lucky is a very opaque bright pink creme. It is practically a one coater, but of course I can’t stop at 1 coat. This polish had the great essence formula that I am accustomed to. It went on smoothly and self leveled very well. It also dried well. On my middle and ring nails I used the “blob and spread” method to apply 2 coats of Sally Hansen Fruit-ta-ta. Fruit-ta-ta consists of matte white, pink, red and black glitter suspended in a clear base. This one was on sale. The glitter in this polish is quite sparse, so I ended up getting quite a bit of base on my nails, which really slowed down drying time. In hindsight it would be a better idea to sponge this one onto the nail. On my index and pinkie I placed two 2 mm studs purchased from bornprettystore (purchase here and here*) near my cuticles to match some of the colours of the glitter. I sealed it all in with 2 coats of Seche Vite to try and dry the glitter nails and make sure the studs are secure.

I’ve changed the background colour in my photos from white to black. I feel it eliminates some of the red in my skintone which I struggle with in my pictures. I don’t want to mess around with the colours of my photos too much for fear of destroying the colour accuracy of the polish, so this was a better solution in my opinion. I really loved the photos in Blingfinger‘s blog looked against the black background and this inspired me to try it in the first place. I would love to hear what you think about the change in the comments below!
