Hi everyone. I have a special post for you today. My friend Pish Posh Polish posted about her sister’s boyfriend who is a sweet 16 year old boy who very unexpectedly suffered a stroke. It was rather severe and he is currently trying to recover in a care facility. You can see Pish’s post and mani here. She started the hashtag #BlueandRedforKent and started pulling the nail community into it to raise awareness and for us to show our support for his friends and family. Of course I wanted to be part of it 🙂 Pish told everyone that his favourite colours are blue and red and that he loves music. I drew my inspiration for my mani from there. Let me show you what I came up with:I started off with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as a base coat to protect my nails. On my index and middle nails I painted 2 coats of Emily de Molly Seeing Red (gift). MAN! I *needed* an excuse to use this polish again! On my ring and pinkie nails I painted 2 coats of Smudge Polish Navy Seal. Once that was dry I used PUEEN 47 and Pish Plashing Around to stamp the music notes on my middle nail. I used the same image and MPolish Scouting the Beach to stamp on my pinky nail. On my ring nail I used MPolish I Need a Vacation and BP-26 to stamp the awareness ribbons. Red awareness ribbons are used for those that suffer from strokes. I didn’t even know that. I thought that the red ribbons represent AIDS awareness, which is obviously quite prevalent in my country. You can see all the different colours of ribbons and their meanings here. On my index nail I used a Superman water decal I purchased from luckystarstyle. I thought it was rather fitting because Clark Kent and to represent how Kent is fighting to survive. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.
If you would like to stay up to date with Kent’s progress, you can find the Facebook page here. I wish Kent and his loved ones all the best with his recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with them every day.
