Untried Polish Challenge – Neutral

What I was going to use for this prompt has changed many times during the challenge, but I eventually settled on a polish that I was dying to try.  I found this polish on sale at Dischem for only R29.00. It looked so pretty in the bottle, I had to get it. Just the other day I saw a picture on Pinterest and LOVED the polish…only to realize it was the same one that I had picked up and hadn’t got around to using! What a lovely surprise 🙂 The polish I bought is Revlon Popular. It is another one of those polishes that looks exactly the same as another Revlon polish with a different name. In this case the swatches I have seen have also been called ‘Starry Pink’. The same thing happened with Facets of Fuchsia and Scandalous which I mentioned in this post. It is weird, but essence re-releases completely different polishes with previously used polish names, so who knows what these people are thinking.

Anyway, for me this shade is a neutral colour. It is so light it is practically nude. I started off with my regular base coat of Tip Top Miraculous Results to protect my natural nails. I painted three coats of Revlon Popular on all my nails except on my ring fingers. On my ring fingers I painted three coats of China Glaze Some Like It Haute. I sealed everything in with my favourite Seche Vite top coat. The results:

I don’t know if it is just me, but I think this light shade looks a little ‘off’ with my skin tone. It could just be me since nobody else has said anything about it or agreed, even when asked.

Do you remember I moaned to no end about my Some Like It Haute in this post? I decided to ask Maskscara about it and they said I could bring my bottle in to exchange it for another one since they hadn’t had any complaints about that particular polish. I took them up on the offer and went to swap it. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! My new bottle is perfect, the formula was great and it applied perfectly. I definitely had a dud bottle! So weird. Second dud bottle of polish I have been unfortunate enough to purchase. Both were replaced with no issues from the stores, which is a huge win for me! That being said, I fell in love with my Some Like It Haute all over again. I think it is one of my all time favourites (so far)! You can see how it sparkles and flashes a rainbow of colours in the pics.

What do you think of these polishes? Does the colour look funny or is it just me?
