Unconventional Valentine’s Day Nails

Purchased Myself ButtonGift Button

Hi everyone! Firstly, I’d like to start today by saying Happy Birthday to my son! Elijah turns 5 today! I’m off work busy making final arrangements for the party which will be happening today. The weather forecast said it was going to be a scorcher and since we are going to be outside, I hope they were wrong! Onto the nails!

I was meh about a mani I did recently and Ordinary Misfit suggested I stop forcing myself to use untrieds and wear a polish I love. I also realized that this would be posted in February, so I knew I had to get going with the Valentine’s Day nails. I don’t really think people would look at this and say “Oh! Valentine’s Day nails!” AT ALL. There is a heart in there, so they’ll just have to deal 😛 Let me show you what happened.

Dollish Polish Rockin' Rainbow Sherbet

Dollish Polish Rockin' Rainbow Sherbet

I started off with my regular Tip Top base coat to protect my natural nails. I painted 3 coats of Dollish Polish Rockin’ Rainbow Sherbet on all of my nails, except my ring nail. I’ve worn this polish before, but have been wanting to wear it again and I really, really love it so it is the polish that I chose to chase away the mehs. Isn’t it beautiful? I did have to fish out some of the glitter on the 2nd and 3rd coats even though I left my bottle upside down for a full day before I used it. It is just how some of these amazing glitter polishes are. Worth the effort, no? Yes! Misfit chose the colour for my accent nail which is 3 coats of Revlon Tangerine. I received this polish at the Cosmopolitan nail event. I didn’t have any problems with the formula and I love the shimmer! I have had this polish on my untried shelf for so very long, not sure what to do with it. If you look carefully you’ll see that there are orange glitter hexes in the Dollish Polish, which is why she picked it. On my ring nail I placed a 3 mm heart stud that I painted with China Glaze Are You Jelly? to match the purple glitter. This was my attempt at making it “Valentinesy”.

Well, there it is. What do you think of this mani? Let me know in the comments below! I’ll be sure to do some more “conventional” (read: red and white) Valentine’s Day nails before the 14th. Promise! I already want to steal something Misfit has done 😉

Thanks for reading!
