Hi there 🙂 As it started getting colder and my mood started getting gloomier I really felt like doing a dark mani. I was really in the mood to wear black polish, which is unusual for me. I have nothing against black polish, but it isn’t the first colour I would reach for when I’m indecisive. I was mulling over how I could make black more interesting and knew it was the perfect opportunity to bring out some glitter! Glitter makes everything better, right? Well…it doesn’t make polish removal better, but usually it’s worth it 😉 Let me show you what I came up with.
I started off with a base coat to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of essence black is back on all of my nails. This black isn’t super opaque, so you do need 2 coats to finish it off. On my ring nail I painted a coat of Sinful Colors Green Ocean. Drawing inspiration from the green and blue shift in the glitters and flakies, I decided rather than just use it over all my nails I would do some stamping to compliment it. I used my PUEEN 26 stamping plate with M Polish Pish Plashin’ Around (blue) and Get Lost (green) to stamp on my pinkie and index nails. On my middle nail I added a green and blue rhinestone. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.
I was really planning on being lazy and just slapping on some black polish with glitter over it when I sat down to do this mani, but I sure was glad I got a jolt of inspiration from Green Ocean. I loved wearing this mani so much! I also happen to know that Green Ocean is my bestie, Pish Posh Polish‘s, favourite Sinful Colors polish…plus the blue stamping polish was named after her, so I dedicate this one to Pishy! I would love to hear your thoughts on this one in the comments below 🙂

Hi everyone! I bet you thought now that Christmas is over snowflake nails are a thing of the past? No way! Snowflake nails are appropriate any time cos they are just so pretty, right?! I absolutely adored this mani. Let me show you what I came up with 🙂
I started off with a base coat to protect my nails. I sponged a gradient onto my nails using Smudge Navy Seal (pictured) and Essie Coat Azure. These two colours are so beautiful together and I think would also make a great gradient combination for twilight themed nails. The snowflakes were stamped with essence white stampy polish and bornprettystore plate QA58. All of these snowflake images are individual images, so I stamped multiple times on each nail for the effect you see above. There was still a little too much empty space around the snowflakes when I was done stamping and no space to put more snowflakes, so I used a small dotting tool and Sinful Colors Snow Me White to add a few dots in between. I added a coat of Out The Door Northern Lights to give it a little extra sparkle and sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.
I was totally obsessed with these nails when I wore them. Even though we don’t get snow here, I love snowflakes. We do get snow on the mountains in winter which makes it very cold. When you start to feel the nip in the air you know that you can look towards the mountains and expect to see them capped with snow. If I do this gradient combination again I will probably use the darker blue towards the tip of my nail because it was a bit of a pain to clean up from my cuticles, even though I used liquid latex while I was sponging.
I would love to hear what you think of this mani in the comments below 🙂 Thanks for reading!
Hi everyone! I have another bornprettystore review for you today. This mani doubles up as my contribution for New Year’s nails as well 🙂 I received a gorgeous charm to review. They come in different colours, you can view and purchase them here. I actually like all of the colours, but I opted for the gold since you can reuse them and I thought they would be more versatile overall. Let’s see what I came up with 🙂I started off with an L.A. Girl base coat to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black on all of my nails. Once they were dry I used a piece of latex make up sponge and L.A. Colors Dizzy to sponge on the glitter gradient on all of my nails except on my ring finger. I don’t think I would have been able to get this glitter dense enough with the brush without the polish building up a lot of clear base, which is why I opted to sponge it on. On my ring nail I attached the charm using nail glue. I sealed in everything with a coat of Seche Vite.
I really love this charm! It is so cute! I might just get myself the other colours as well. This charm is quite large. I see that the width and length are specified on bornprettystore’s site, but they don’t mention how high the charm is, so I took a picture to show you:All that being said, these did not bother me at all. I have had nail charms that get stuck in my hair or bother me by bumping against things, but I barely noticed these on my nail. If I somehow manage not to lose them I will definitely wear them again! I would also like to mention that they are not completely flat at the back, they are curved to accommodate for the c curve of your nails. This helps the charm adhere better. Would I recommend these? I definitely would! You can find bornprettystore at the following locations:

Hi everyone. I have another review from bornprettystore for you today. I’ve never really been drawn to this type of stud before, so it was a gamble for me to review them. I am not particularly creative when it comes to studs. This mani is no different on the creativity side, but I really loved how it turned out. I actually did this mani purely for the review and knew I was going to take it off immediately. After I saw how it turned out I was actually disappointed that I had to remove it. Let me show you what I did.I started off with an L.A. Girl base coat to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of Sinful Colors Rise and Shine on all of my nails. Rise and Shine dries to a matte finish and I really liked the idea of keeping it matte. I used my GOSH matte top coat over Rise and Shine and placed my studs while the matte top coat was still wet. I chose Rise and Shine because these studs reflect both green and pink. They are so pretty and I thought it would look lovely with this teal shade. You can see on the first photo how well they go together 🙂 There are 4 different shapes of studs in this wheel and I’ve used them all here.
I have tried these studs with a different mani before and tried placing 2 studs per nail, but it didn’t look great at all. I took it off immediately and went back to the drawing board. I also top coated them when I had 2 per nail and everything ended up looking big, bulky and plain ugly. I did say I’m not great with studs, right? I really loved how this look turned out though. So beautiful! Love these? You can purchase them here. You can also find bornprettystore on their website and social media channels:

Hi everyone! I know I said you’ve seen the last of the Christmas manis, but I wanted to show you what I wore on Christmas Day 🙂 When my friend Leebeesa was visiting from Ireland she brought me a few nail related gifts. She knows how much I love Christmas and brought me some gorgeous Christmas 3D nail charms. They really are beautiful! I started off with Tip Top Miraculous Results as my base coat to protect my nails. On my index, middle and pinkie nails I painted 2 coats of Sinful Colors Ruby Glisten. Even though I used this polish more than a year ago, I remembered that it was a cuticle flooder. The formula on this polish is very thin, so I was very careful not to put too much polish on my brush to ensure I don’t end up with red polish everywhere. This polish has a gorgeous red shimmer that isn’t evident in the photos, but can be seen in person. It really is a gorgeous vampy red! On my ring nail I painted 2 coats of Zoya Tomoko (gift). Tomoko was my Zoya lust have and I keep using it because I really do love it very much! I sealed all my nails in with Seche Vite. I attached the charms with nail glue. I only wore them for the day and took them off because I’m afraid of losing them. I have very recently lost a charm I was quite fond of so I’d rather err on the side of caution now.
I really loved this mani, the colours are gorgeous and with the charms it turned out to be a very Christmassy mani indeed! I really hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas with loved ones, even if you don’t celebrate I hope that my readers enjoyed their day regardless.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this mani in the comments below 🙂

Hi everyone! I have my final Christmas mani to show you today 🙂 I love doing striped Christmas designs. Last year I chose to do them in red and gold, but this year I opted for the more traditional red and white. I started off with an L.A. Girl base coat to protect my nails. I thought I was very clever with this mani and started off with Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby as my base colour. I knew that I would flood my cuticles terribly when using vinyls and that Ruby Ruby would stain them. I also knew that the white I would be using is really opaque and I wouldn’t have any issues covering up the red. Sometimes I don’t fail at this nail thing! I laid down only 1 coat of Ruby Ruby and waited for that to dry. On my ring nail I dabbed a coat of L.A. Girl Speckle which contains red hex glitter, matte white glitter in 2 different sizes. On the rest of my nails I used straight nail vinyls that I received for review from We Heart Nail Art and painted one thick coat of essence wild white ways over them. I removed the vinyls immediately and sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.
I’m quite happy with how these turned out, although I think the stripes should have been a bit different, perhaps spaced differently. These nails were pretty eye catching, probably because of the white and I received lots of compliments on them.
If you celebrate Christmas, a very merry Christmas to you and yours! I hope that all of my readers have a most blessed and safe festive season!

Hi everyone! It’s that time of the year again when everyone is doing manis for breast cancer awareness. This year I decided to recreate my very first breast cancer awareness mani which I did in 2013, but I wanted to improve on it. Here is the original:
This mani is also my most popular pin on Pinterest. Every year during October people find it and start pinning it. When that happened this year I thought it was time to bring it back to life. Let me show you what I came up with for my Breast Cancer Awareness Nails 2015:I started off with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as a base coat to protect my nails. On my index and ring nails I painted 2 coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black. On my middle and pinkie nails I painted 1 coat of MPolish Fresh Perspective (gift). I sponged L.A. Girl Sprinkle onto my index nail. On my pinkie I sponged L’Oreal Top Coat Confetti (gift). On my ring nail I used MPolish Fresh Perspective and my BP-26 (press sample) to stamp the awareness ribbons. On my middle nail I used Black on Black and a dotting tool to paint the bra. The holographic hex in the middle I fished out of Tip Top Rocky Road like I did on the previous mani. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.
Ladies, don’t forget to check yourselves. Do regular breast examinations and if you are 40 or older, go to have your annual mammograms. Do not put it off. Do not ignore any sign that something is different. Early detection will greatly improve your chances of survival. It is scary to find something, not know what it is. I know. I’ve been through that medically, but you’ll never know what it is unless you get it checked. If you never go, you will never get the help you need. I encourage every single woman out there to check herself and be checked!
I really loved how this mani turned out and enjoyed wearing it very much! I got loads of compliments on it too. I would love to hear your thought in the comments below 🙂

Hi everyone! The mani I’m showing you today I created with my dear friend Angel in mind. We’ve been friends for many years. Although we have been separated by distance as she lives in Johannesburg and I live in Cape Town, we keep up with each other’s blogs and online. She’s one of those friends that you might not speak to in ages, but when we do we pick up where we left off. Angel has had a nickname for her son since he was a little boy. He is all grown up now, but she still calls him her strawbreez. When Angel saw my Nail Anarchy Christmas in July haul she spotted the strawberry image on the plate and commented on the post saying I should do a strawberry mani for her sometime. I tucked this away and when I was stuck for a mani idea one day it dawned on me that I still had an idea! A strawberry mani for Angel! Let me show you what I came up with 🙂
I started off with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as my base coat to protect my nails. On my index, middle and pinkie nails I sponged a gradient using Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby and essence rollercoaster. On my ring nail I used essence café olé as my base colour. For the strawberry I made a decal using my MoYou London Princess 10 stamping plate and MoYou London black stamping polish, for the leaves of the strawberry I stamped with MPolish Get Lost. I painted the green onto the leaves on the plate and the black over the rest of the strawberry and scraped from left to right to avoid the polishes blending. I filled in the rest of the strawberry with Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby and allowed it to dry a little before applying essence XXL top coat over the image on my stamper head. Once that had dried on my stamper I carefully removed it and applied the decal to my nail. I trimmed the edges and sealed it with a coat of Seche Vite, cleaning up whatever part of the decal was remaining with acetone and my clean up brush. The gradient was also sealed in with Seche Vite.
I wasn’t 100% happy with the gradient, I think reversing the colours was not my best moment. I like the way that the actual gradient turned out, but perhaps having the gradient colours in the same order as the strawberry might have looked better overall. That being said I absolutely loves my strawberry decal. I gave Angel a sneak peek of this mani and I’m happy to report she liked it as well 🙂
What do you think? Should I have swapped the colours in the gradient?

Hi everyone! Today I have my first attempt at a waterfall mani to show you. I was really in the mood to wear a red polish for a change and spotted Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Racy Rouge standing in my untried shelf. This polish was one of the gifts my friend Leebeesa sent me for my birthday. She has recently married the love of her life and moved across the ocean to Ireland.I started off with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as my base coat to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Racy Rouge on all of my nails. In the bottle this polish looked like it leaned pink, but it is very clearly red on the nail. It is quite opaque and I may have gotten away with 1 coat, but I did 2 anyway. The formula was good, although I had to adjust a little to the brush in this bottle. The brush is wider than normal brushes, but not quite as wide as the essence brushes. I actually like wider brushes as it’s easier for me to cover the entire nail in less strokes, but you can easily overload your brush with polish and flood your cuticles so you need to balance that out. As the name suggest the polish dries fairly quickly, so I didn’t really have to wait much to start with my waterfall nail art. This is the first time I have tried this technique. I used essence As Long As You Love Me, Tip Top Armour Plate and Sinful Colors Black on Black with a striping brush to fill freehand the stripes. I sealed it all in with a coat of Seche Vite.
I actually got quite a few compliments on this mani and really enjoyed wearing it. I would love to hear what you think in the comments below 🙂

Hi everyone! I have some holo nails with stamping to show you today. Everybody say HO-LO! Hey! HO-LO! Hey! Yes. I’m in a silly mood. Spring has sprung here in South Africa and that makes me immeasurably happy! Spring is my favourite season! Hay fever aside, I love all the flowers in bloom, longer days and warmer nights! Of course more sunshine also means neons and holos – right up my alley! Let me show you the mani I created 🙂I started off with an L.A. Girl base coat to protect my nails. I painted 4 coats of L.A. Girl 3D Silver on my index and 3 coats on my middle nail. This polish is super sheer. I might consider layering it over silver next time to reduce the number of coats. Otherwise it is gorgeously sparkly! On my ring and pinkie nails I painted 2 coats of L.A. Girl Black Illusion. Both of these polishes are from the 3D Effects collection. I have almost all the colours in this collection except for the blues and the orange. I really love how beautiful the scattered holo looks! I love all things holo, although I’m sure you’ve noticed 😉 Once my nails were dry I stamped using BM-S107. For the black stamping I used Sinful Colors Black on Black and for the silver Tip Top Armour Plate. I sealed in everything with a coat of Seche Vite.
I really loved this mani! It was absolutely gorgeous. The stamping looked so beautiful (hello paisley!) and these polishes just came alive in the sun. What do you think?
