Hi everyone! I told you I would be playing with neons and holos again…so not to disappoint you, I did 🙂 I love the combination of neons and holos…neons and nudes…holos and anything really. Every nail polish addict has their preferences. I’m a holosexual first and foremost and then I would probably put neons a close second.Neon gradient with holo stampingNeon gradient with holo stampingNeon gradient with holo stampingNeon gradient with holo stamping

I started off with a base coat to protect my nails. I started off with a coat of essence wild white ways as a base. I used a make up sponge and China Glaze Highlight of my Summer (green), You Drive Me Coconuts (pink) and Flip Flop Fantasy (orange) to create a gradient on all of my nails. Once that was dry I used Color Club Beyond and MoYou Illusion 05 (press sample) stamping plate to stamp the swirls onto my nails. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

I have so many nail photos laying uploaded in my media folder that I am yet to create posts for, I kind of feel overwhelmed. My blog has been very quiet of late and it has been unavoidable. With some of them I cannot even remember what polishes I used, it’s been that long since I’ve actually done the mani! I’m going to try and do some catching up and write posts for all of the photos. Then I’ll be able to get some content out for you guys.

BecauseIShop Nail Vinyls

Hi everyone! Today I have an exciting post for you. My friend B is the queen of DIY and also a lover of nail art. She has decided to start her own vinyl store! Introducing BecauseIShop Nail Vinyls! Before she did this we were only able to get proper vinyls from international suppliers, not anymore! She used her nail buddies as guinea pigs for her new venture and I was lucky enough to be included in the lot. Let me show you what I did with them 🙂BecauseIShop Nail VinylsBecauseIShop Nail VinylsBecauseIShop Nail VinylsBecauseIShop Nail Vinyls

I started off with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as a base coat to protect my nails. I used China Glaze That’s Shore Bright (purple) and Peonies & Park Ave (pink) to create a gradient effect on all of my nails with a latex make up sponge. Once that was dry I stamped using my MoYou Fashionista 04 stamping plate (gift) and Tip Top Armour Plate on my pinkie, middle, index and thumb nails. On my ring nail I placed star vinyls from BecauseIShop and painted over them using Armour Plate, immediately removing the vinyls afterwards. On my other hand I used a unicorn vinyl and did the same. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

The vinyls were super easy to use. They are quite sticky, so make sure your base polish is 100% dry before using them. I managed to pull up my polish with them, but I am known to be too impatient with this type of thing. The unicorn vinyl is totally my favourite. Unfortunately in this prototype version you cannot see the mane of the unicorn, but B has since made them smaller so that you can fit the entire vinyl onto your nail. If you would like to see how the smaller version looks, check out Ordinary Misfit’s review. I really loved this mani!

I would totally recommend these vinyls. B is one creative lady and will definitely release awesome new designs. You can find BecauseIShop on their social media channels:

Charlie’s Rad Lacquer Veau’s Voodoo

Gift Button

Hi everyone! Today I have another beautiful polish gifted to me by Pish from Pish Posh Polish. I was in the mood to wear something light and the adorable bottle the polish comes in always catches my eye. Let me show you what I came up with.Charlie's Rad Lacquer Veau's VoodooCharlie's Rad Lacquer Veau's VoodooCharlie's Rad Lacquer Veau's Voodoo

I started off with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as my base coat to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of Charlie’s Rad Lacquer Veau’s Voodoo on all of my nails. This polish is a light lilac colour and contacts a soft linear holographic effect. I had no issues with the formula on this one and how cute is that bottle? When mynails were dry I used MoYou London black stamping polish (press sample) and MoYou London Fashionista 04 to stamp on my ring and index nails. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

A rather simple mani, but I really liked it. What do you think?

Strawberry Mani for Angel

Purchased Myself Button

Gift Button

Hi everyone! The mani I’m showing you today I created with my dear friend Angel in mind. We’ve been friends for many years. Although we have been separated by distance as she lives in Johannesburg and I live in Cape Town, we keep up with each other’s blogs and online. She’s one of those friends that you might not speak to in ages, but when we do we pick up where we left off. Angel has had a nickname for her son since he was a little boy. He is all grown up now, but she still calls him her strawbreez. When Angel saw my Nail Anarchy Christmas in July haul she spotted the strawberry image on the plate and commented on the post saying I should do a strawberry mani for her sometime. I tucked this away and when I was stuck for a mani idea one day it dawned on me that I still had an idea! A strawberry mani for Angel! Let me show you what I came up with 🙂Strawberry Mani for AngelStrawberry Mani for AngelStrawberry Mani for Angel

I started off with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as my base coat to protect my nails. On my index, middle and pinkie nails I sponged a gradient using Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby and essence rollercoaster. On my ring nail I used essence café olé as my base colour. For the strawberry I made a decal using my MoYou London Princess 10 stamping plate and MoYou London black stamping polish, for the leaves of the strawberry I stamped with MPolish Get Lost. I painted the green onto the leaves on the plate and the black over the rest of the strawberry and scraped from left to right to avoid the polishes blending. I filled in the rest of the strawberry with Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby and allowed it to dry a little before applying essence XXL top coat over the image on my stamper head. Once that had dried on my stamper I carefully removed it and applied the decal to my nail. I trimmed the edges and sealed it with a coat of Seche Vite, cleaning up whatever part of the decal was remaining with acetone and my clean up brush. The gradient was also sealed in with Seche Vite.

I wasn’t 100% happy with the gradient, I think reversing the colours was not my best moment. I like the way that the actual gradient turned out, but perhaps having the gradient colours in the same order as the strawberry might have looked better overall. That being said I absolutely loves my strawberry decal. I gave Angel a sneak peek of this mani and I’m happy to report she liked it as well 🙂

What do you think? Should I have swapped the colours in the gradient?

Butter London Bossy Boots and LVX Deco

Gift Button

Hi everyone! Today I would like to show you one of the first manis I’ve done with my amazing box from Pish Posh Polish. I really wanted to play with my liquid latex and do a gradient. I barely do gradients because of the cleanup and I promised myself I would do more once I got my hands on some liquid latex. Let me show you what I came up with.Butter London Bossy Boots and LVX Deco gradient stamped with MoYou London Princess 10Butter London Bossy Boots and LVX Deco gradient stamped with MoYou London Princess 10Butter London Bossy Boots and LVX Deco gradient stamped with MoYou London Princess 10Butter London Bossy Boots and LVX Deco gradient stamped with MoYou London Princess 10I started off with a base coat of Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener. I sponged about 3 layers of Bossy Boots and LVX Deco onto all of my nails. Once they were dry I used Tip Top Armour Plate and my MoYou London Princess 10 to stamp the interlocking hearts on to pinkie and index nails. On my middle and ring nails I used essence black stampy polish to stamp the same image. I sealed it in with Out the Door Northern Lights for a bit of extra sparkle.

I was totally in love with the result of this mani! I actually really love gradients and will endeavour to do more. They just look so beautiful and I could certainly use a little bit of practice. What do you think?

Nail Anarchy Christmas in July!

Gift Button

Hi everyone! July was an exciting month for the Nail Anarchy group. We decided last year already that we wanted to do Christmas in July and set up a Secret Santa gift exchange within the group. We used Elfster to set up the exchange and add items to our wishlists. We started it all up in January and had to wait an agonizing 6 months before we got to give and receive our gifts. Elfster allowed us to keep everything a secret. It’s a very cool site. It allows you to send anonymous messages to and from your elf…create wishlists of things you want, mark items as purchased, marks gifts as sent, acknowledge your gift, etc. You should really check it out if you need something like this. Eventually it was time to send off our gifts! I drew Thea from Madness Nails to purchase for. I was an eager beaver and ended up getting everything for her package way in advance. I just couldn’t wait! Some of the polishes she wanted were in store at the time and since they brand announced they are closing down I wasn’t sure if they would be around for the foreseeable future, so I snapped them up as soon as I could. She also wished for the stamper that changed my life and I HAD to get it for her. Anyhow, my package came from Briget of Because I Can fame (you should really subscribe to her YouTube channel – her vlogs are hilarious!). Let me show you all the goodies she got me!

How utterly spoiled was I? Thank you SO much for all my goodies B! The first chance I got to sit down and play with my goodies I used no less than 4 of them in one mani! Speaking of manis…of course we all had to do a Christmas themed Mani for Christmas in July 😀 This is what I came up with 🙂Nail Anarchy Christmas in JulyNail Anarchy Christmas in JulyNail Anarchy Christmas in July

I started with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as a base coat to protect my nails. On my thumb, index and pinkie I painted 2 coats of Maskscara Gold Finger. Gold Finger is a lovely gold foil and is generally my go to gold in my collection. I used Barry M Christmas Tree as a topper over the gold nails. Christmas Tree contains small green hex and bar glitters, red snippet glitters and silver holographic stars suspended in a clear base. The base is not thick at all and the glitter pay off is awesome. I left the bottle upside down while I was at work so that any sunken glitter could become easily accessible, but it wasn’t necessary. I didn’t have to fish for stars either which is a huge plus. The glitter is really dense and sparkly so the stars kind of get lost on the nail if you don’t seek them out which is a pity. On my ring and middle nails I painted 1 coat of Revlon Gel Envy Sure Thing. This is my first time using this crisp white creme and I was suitably impressed. Finding a white polish that gives amazing coverage in 1 coat is not very common for me. I didn’t feel I needed an extra coat of white because I knew I was doing to do some art on them. Once the white was dry I used the straight handmade vinyls Briget made for me to tape off sections of my nails and I filled them in with China Glaze Just Be-Claws which is my favourite Christmassy red in my collection. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

Briget! Thank you millions for my gorgeous box! *throws confetti*

While I was wearing this mani, the gold nails felt…familiar somehow…and then I realized…Nail Anarchy Christmas in July

Uncanny! It is definitely not the same, but they DO look similar. Two separate polishes isn’t a bad thing, because they are more versatile and you can mix and match them to create different looks. I just found this quite an interesting coincidence. What do you guys think of this mani? Don’t forget to check out what the other ladies did below! Have you ever done a nail related gift exchange? Tell me about it!

MoYou London Princess 10

Gift Button

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you a mani I created with gifts I received in my secret Santa box for Nail Anarchy Christmas in July. I’ll have a post up about the box I received on the last Friday of this month with our Christmas in July nail challenge posts 🙂 One of the gifts I received was my very first MoYou London stamping plate! I was SO excited! I really love the plate my secret Santa chose and couldn’t wait to try it out! Here is a photo of the plate (Princess 10):

MoYou Princess 10 Stamping Plate

MoYou Princess 10 Stamping Plate

MoYou London Princess Collection 10 and Loose GlitterMoYou London Princess Collection 10 and Loose GlitterMoYou London Princess Collection 10 and Loose GlitterI started off with an L.A. Girl base coat to protect my nails. Unfortunately neither of the purple polishes I used have names. The lilac is a Revolution polish that I received as a gift. My friend left the country and passed on all her polish to me. A lot of them were gloopy. I tried to fix this one with thinner, but it seems hopeless. I will test it for stamping and if it doesn’t work I am afraid I’ll have to toss it. The dark purple I received in my secret Santa box. It is a deep plum colour and the brand name on the bottle is Glintz. I was going to do a glitter placement accent nail, but I dropped the first piece of glitter onto my nail and couldn’t move it. I tried a pattern and couldn’t get it to look good, so I decided to cover the entire nail with the loose glitter. There are probably 5 coats of top coat holding those suckers together. Once the gradient had dried on my other nails I used Tip Top Armour Plate and the MoYou London Princess 10 plate to stamp the same image on all of my nails. I sealed it all in with a coat of Seche Vite. Ta da!

I would love to hear what you think if this in the comments below 🙂
