Sinful Colors Green Ocean and Gradient Stamping

Hi there 🙂 As it started getting colder and my mood started getting gloomier I really felt like doing a dark mani. I was really in the mood to wear black polish, which is unusual for me. I have nothing against black polish, but it isn’t the first colour I would reach for when I’m indecisive. I was mulling over how I could make black more interesting and knew it was the perfect opportunity to bring out some glitter! Glitter makes everything better, right? Well…it doesn’t make polish removal better, but usually it’s worth it 😉 Let me show you what I came up with.

I started off with a base coat to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of essence black is back on all of my nails. This black isn’t super opaque, so you do need 2 coats to finish it off. On my ring nail I painted a coat of Sinful Colors Green Ocean. Drawing inspiration from the green and blue shift in the glitters and flakies, I decided rather than just use it over all my nails I would do some stamping to compliment it. I used my PUEEN 26 stamping plate with M Polish Pish Plashin’ Around (blue) and Get Lost (green) to stamp on my pinkie and index nails. On my middle nail I added a green and blue rhinestone. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

I was really planning on being lazy and just slapping on some black polish with glitter over it when I sat down to do this mani, but I sure was glad I got a jolt of inspiration from Green Ocean. I loved wearing this mani so much! I also happen to know that Green Ocean is my bestie, Pish Posh Polish‘s, favourite Sinful Colors polish…plus the blue stamping polish was named after her, so I dedicate this one to Pishy! I would love to hear your thoughts on this one in the comments below 🙂

Bornprettystore Clear Stamper Review

bornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewHi everyone! Today I’m reviewing the bornprettystore clear jelly stamper pictured above. As you can see you receive a stamper and a scraper with your purchase. The clear stampers took the nail art world by storm a while ago and I really wanted to try one out. I had not gotten around to ordering one yet, so I jumped at the chance of reviewing one. I knew it was already on it’s way to me and I was seeing a lot of people posting about problems picking up images with the clear stampers, but I wasn’t sure if the stampers they were struggling with were from bornprettystore as they are stocked elsewhere too. So when I received mine I was both excited and nervous. Before creating my mani, I did a few tests to see how it picks up images. For all the swatches below I used MoYou London black stamping polish. Here are the results:bornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewbornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewbornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewbornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewbornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewbornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewbornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewAs you can see the stamper does pick up images well. I didn’t prime it at all since this would cloud the stamping head and defeat the purpose. I did wipe it down with acetone once. This is not recommended for any stamper, but I have had success with this once before with a marshmallow stamper and wanted to see if it made a difference. It didn’t. Although it picks up images well, as with any other stamper it does depend on the plate/polish/stamper combination. I also found that some trial and error worked well. At times I couldn’t pick up an image, but changing my scraping direction and pressure made a difference. It did fail to pick up some images that I was able to pick up with another stamper, but this is pretty standard for any stamper that I’ve worked with. The stamper is 2.8 cm in diameter and is squishy. It is not firm, nor marshmallow, but somewhere in between.bornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewThe reason these stampers are so popular is that it can really help you line up your stamping and place your images exactly where you want them. I think my stamping skills are intermediate at best, so this is beneficial to me. I’ve seen pros line up stamping like a boss even without a clear stamper and always been jealous, now I have an ace up my sleeve 😉 Of course a clear stamper like this called for a mani that needed specific placement and I couldn’t think of a better way to showcase this than a double stamped mani. Let me show you what I came up with.bornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewbornprettystore clear jelly stamper reviewbornprettystore clear jelly stamper review

I started off with a base coat to protect my nails. I used 2 coats of Hean 641 (press sample) as a base. Once that was dry I started stamping. I used images from PUEEN 39 and PUEEN 46. I used small images specifically because these would be the ones that would normally need specific placement. I will also definitely be using this stamper when I want to stamp geometric images that need to be perfectly straight. I wanted to create a garden themed butterfly mani and I think I managed to do just that. There was still a bit of empty space around the images once I was done stamping, but no images small enough to fill up the space without overlapping the stamping that was already there. When in doubt, add glitter! So I used a glitter topper from Sally Hansen called Samba. I picked out the glitter and placed it in the empty spaces. It is a very sparse topper, but I didn’t want any of the glitter over the stamping so I chose to place it instead of painting it directly onto my nails. After all the stamping and glitter placement I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

Stamping polishes used are all from M Polish (gifts):

Pish Plashin’ Around (blue)

Dancing in the Streets (purple)

Hottie (orange)

Fresh Perspective (pink)

I Need a Vacation (red)

Get Lost (green)

Would I recommend this stamper? I certainly would! It is the same size and just as squishy as my bornprettystore XL stamper which totally changed my stamping game. When I store my stampers I usually just turn the head the wrong way around and stick it in my drawer with other supplies, but I’ve sealed this head in a small plastic bag to protect it from scratching and obscuring my view of the images picked up. If you are interested in getting your hands on one of these, you can purchase it here. I’ve posted my discount code below for 10% off your purchases (if not already discounted).Born Pretty DiscountI would really love to hear your thoughts on this mani and the clear stampers in the comments below. Stamped Christmas Nails

Hi everyone. The Christmas nails continue! I have a stamped mani to show you today and it’s not even snowflakes! I honestly just want to do ALL THE SNOWFLAKE MANIS, which is kind of crazy since we don’t even have snow here, but they’re just so pretty! I digress. Let me show you what I did for today.Stamped Christmas NailsStamped Christmas NailsStamped Christmas Nails

I started off with an L.A. Girl base coat to protect my nails. On my index and pinkie I painted 2 coats of Charlie Daring. I bought this polish in the beginning of my nail obsession specifically for Christmas manis as it is the perfect Christmas green in my opinion and every Christmas without fail I reach for it. On my middle and ring nails I painted 2 coats of Zoya Seraphina (Gift). This is such a gorgeous silver. It is quite sheer, but since I was planning to stamp over it I didn’t push it to a third coat. Over the silver nails I used M Polish Get Lost and PUEEN 42 to stamp the Christmas trees. The reindeer and bell on my other nails were stamped using bornprettystore BP-01 and Tip Top Armour Plate. I sealed it all in with a coat of Seche Vite.

I really loved the Christmas tree nails, but the others didn’t really float my boat too much. What do you think?

Twin Nails with Ordinary Misfit

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you twin nails that I’ve done with Ordinary Misfit. We have collaborated with each other before. We’ve exchanged guest posts and we’ve challenged each other to do nails by setting guidelines for each other, but this is our first twin mani! Both of us have been fortunate to have been able to lay our hands on some indies and we happened to have one in common, so it was the perfect choice. Let me show you what I came up with:KBShimmer Totally Tubular with China Glaze That's Shore Bright stamped with M Polish Pish Plashing AroundKBShimmer Totally Tubular with China Glaze That's Shore Bright stamped with M Polish Pish Plashing AroundKBShimmer Totally Tubular with China Glaze That's Shore Bright stamped with M Polish Pish Plashing AroundI started off with a base coat of Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of China Glaze That’s Shore Bright on my index and pinkie nails. Formula wise That’s Shore Bright is my favourite from the Sunsational collection. I also adore the colour, obviously. Once these nails were dry I used M Polish Pish Plashing Around (gift) and the left hand image on PUEEN 36 to stamp onto them. On my middle, ring and thumb nails I painted 3 thin coats of KBShimmer Totally Tubular. Totally Tubular is a very bright teal crelly with fuchsia, blue and aqua glitter. There are some fuchsia circle glitters in there too, you can see one on my middle nail. Love! I really understand now what all the KBShimmer fuss is about. The formula on this polish was perfection. I could have gotten away with 2 coats, but I wanted to fish out a circle glitter for the top layer. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite. Here are our manis together:imageI really loved this mani! What do you think? Be sure to pop onto Ordinary Misfit’s blog to read her post here.

Bestie Twin NAIL MAIL! *PIC HEAVY*

Gift Button

Hi everyone. Today I want to show you the most epic nail mail! Let me give you a bit of background. I met Karen from Pish Posh Polish on a nail blogger group on Facebook. The group decided to do guest posts for each other and drew names. I drew a different name, but my partner could not participate and Karen stepped up to be my partner. We started chatting about our guest posts and the conversations led to us talking about our kids and our lives. It turns out we have a lot in common! Obviously our love for polish is what brought us together, but both of us are married with 2 kids. We’re both full term breastfeeding moms, we generally have similar beliefs and we quickly became friends. Now we chat practically every day and sometimes we don’t even talk about polish at all. Karen started putting together a “care package” for me. It all started with my requirement for a decent clean up brush…and it spiraled apparently LOL. The shipping on the box was going to be ridiculous, but I had an opportunity for an old school friend’s mother who was visiting in the US to bring it back for me, so Karen was able to ship it domestically. Yay! We started talking about the box in June I think and my friend’s mother was only returning in August, so I was sorely tempted to buy some things for Karen to mule for me. She is clearly the most awesome of enablers, so she was only happy to. I received the box on 9 August, only 5 days after my birthday and boy, was it EPIC! Karen and I linked up in a video call so she could watch me open the box. It was so emotional! I felt like I needed to take a break at some point because I just COULD NOT DEAL WITH IT! Karen was so incredibly generous and as I opened each gift she told me why she thought I *needed* that one, or this one, or that one. I cried at least twice while opening everything. Karen included the sweetest card, which automatically turned me into mush. Did I mention that she also included gifts for my children? So sweet and thoughtful! Bless her cotton socks! Anyhoo…let me show you what was in the box of AWESOME! Here are the products that Karen muled for me (excluding the clean up brush which was a gift from her)

CAN YOU EVEN FREAKING DEAL?! Never in a million years did I expect to be spoiled so much! I told Karen, “Thank you” just doesn’t seem to cut it. I am freaking in love with everything in this box! I showed my bestie photos of all of these and she said “Wow, this is a stash that dreams are made of!”. I couldn’t have said it better. Of course I needed to paint my nails IMMEDIATELY. Karen and I had decided we would do a twin mani as soon as I received my box…so we did 🙂

On my index and middle nails I painted 3 coats of Delush Polish A Peony for Your Thoughts. This is a white crelly polish with purple and hot pink hexes and purple circle glitters throughout. I was in such a hurry to paint my nails I didn’t really have time to leave the bottle upside down and didn’t get any circle glitters out, but I certainly will next time! There is something about the logo of this brand and the fact that the name has the word “lush” in it that just makes it feel so luxurious to me. It helps that their polishes are GORGEOUS! I used M Polish Dancing in the streets and PUEEN 41 to stamp on my index and middle nails. I specifically chose the heart images to show how much I love my box and Karen 🙂 On my ring and pinkie nails I painted 2 coats of Zoya Belinda. This deep purple polish is almost a one coater and is absolutely gorgeous! The image on my ring nail is from PUEEN 39 stamped with M Polish Fresh Perspective and the flower on my pinkie is from BP-10.  On Cindy my bases and stamping polishes are the same and all the images are from BP-10. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

If you want to see Karen’s twin nails post, look here. You can also catch her on her Instagram.

I’m also submitting this mani for Stamping Saturdays! I’ve always wanted to get in on this action and they graciously accepted me into their Facebook group. I don’t post on a Saturday, but they said I can link up a stamping mani from the week too, so here it is! Check out the link up below 🙂
