Hi everyone! I told you I would be playing with neons and holos again…so not to disappoint you, I did 🙂 I love the combination of neons and holos…neons and nudes…holos and anything really. Every nail polish addict has their preferences. I’m a holosexual first and foremost and then I would probably put neons a close second.Neon gradient with holo stampingNeon gradient with holo stampingNeon gradient with holo stampingNeon gradient with holo stamping

I started off with a base coat to protect my nails. I started off with a coat of essence wild white ways as a base. I used a make up sponge and China Glaze Highlight of my Summer (green), You Drive Me Coconuts (pink) and Flip Flop Fantasy (orange) to create a gradient on all of my nails. Once that was dry I used Color Club Beyond and MoYou Illusion 05 (press sample) stamping plate to stamp the swirls onto my nails. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

I have so many nail photos laying uploaded in my media folder that I am yet to create posts for, I kind of feel overwhelmed. My blog has been very quiet of late and it has been unavoidable. With some of them I cannot even remember what polishes I used, it’s been that long since I’ve actually done the mani! I’m going to try and do some catching up and write posts for all of the photos. Then I’ll be able to get some content out for you guys.

Charlie’s Rad Lacquer Veau’s Voodoo

Hi everyone! Today I have another beautiful polish gifted to me by Pish from Pish Posh Polish. I was in the mood to wear something light and the adorable bottle the polish comes in always catches my eye. Let me show you what I came up with.Charlie's Rad Lacquer Veau's VoodooCharlie's Rad Lacquer Veau's VoodooCharlie's Rad Lacquer Veau's Voodoo

I started off with Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener as my base coat to protect my nails. I painted 2 coats of Charlie’s Rad Lacquer Veau’s Voodoo on all of my nails. This polish is a light lilac colour and contacts a soft linear holographic effect. I had no issues with the formula on this one and how cute is that bottle? When mynails were dry I used MoYou London black stamping polish (press sample) and MoYou London Fashionista 04 to stamp on my ring and index nails. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite.

A rather simple mani, but I really liked it. What do you think?

PPSA Nail Challenge – Pink

Hi everyone! It’s time for the next prompt in the #PPSAnailchallenge 🙂 This entire month all my nail posts will be for the Polished Pretties South Africa Nail Challenge. Polished Pretties South Africa is a Facebook group started by the Nail Anarchy ladies and we decided to do a month long challenge and open it up to everyone. You don’t have to be a member of the group to participate, but if you have a love for polish, why not join our group anyway? The challenge is also not compulsory for group members. It’s all just for fun 🙂 Here are all the prompts and the dates:#PPSAnailchallengeToday I am showing you my effort for the pink prompt. After the freehanding I decided it was time to dust off my stamper. Oh how I missed it! The sun was also out for the first time in over a week, so I also had to use my pink Color Club holo. This is what I came up with:PPSA Nail Challenge Pink

PPSA Nail Challenge PinkI’m sorry, I just had to picture spam you! I started with my regular L.A. Girl base coat. I painted 2 coats of Color Club Miss Bliss on my index and middle nails and 2 coats of China Glaze Dance Baby on my ring and pinkie nails. I then switched the polishes around to stamp over each other using my new Born Pretty Store plate BP-L003. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite. Done. A quick and simple mani 🙂 I just LOVE how these Color Club holos stamp! It almost looked like I stamped with Dance Baby on my ring and pinkie.

What do you think of this mani? I’d love to hear in the comments below. Also be sure to check out the other participants in the inlinkz!

Kismet Dotticure

Purchased Myself Button

Hi everyone! When my friend Leebeesa went overseas recently I asked her if she could pick up some polish there for me. It was a no brainer for me to get the Colour Club Halo Hues 2013 collection. You know I love them holos! I also ordered some KBshimmer polishes, but there was a mix up at the hotel reception so I never received those 🙁 KBshimmer was awesome and gave me a full refund. The hotel reception said they likely returned it to them and I hope this was the case and that someone didn’t swipe it. Luckily my Color Club polishes made it to me and they are absolutely STUNNING! I do not regret a thing! The mani I want to show you today features Color Club Kismet. Let me show you what I came up with:

Color Club Kismet

Color Club Kismet

Color Club Kismet Sunlight

I started off with my usual Tip Top base coat to protect my natural nails. I painted 2 coats of Color Club Kismet on all of my nails. Once that was dry I used a dotting tool and used 4 different polishes to dot on my accent nails. The black is Sinful Colors Black on Black, the purple Sinful Colors Amethyst, the blue is Tip Top Cha Cha Cha and the pink is Maybelline Portobello Pink. I sealed it all in with a coat of Seche Vite.

Holy holo! The holo in this polish was visible in almost any light. It is AWESOME. I wore Kismet first because it was the one I expected to like the least and I LOVED it. I didn’t want to take it off. I actually wore Kismet first thinking colour wise it was my least favourite, but it completely blew me away. I am SO in love!

How do you like this mani? Are you a holo lover like me?

Hi everyone. I’ve found it! I’ve found the stand out polish in my collection. I’ve found the polish I want to be buried in. Next time someone asks me which polish I would grab in a fire, I will have an answer for them! That is, by the way, the most unfair question. Polish addicts usually have large collections of polish because they LOVE ALL THE COLOURS. LOVE ALL THE FINISHES. LOVE ALL THE PRETTIES. Don’t ask them to choose. If they could choose just one or a few, they wouldn’t have so many to begin with 😛 This polish was another gift from my Belgian friend who also bought the polishes I featured here and here. Love him long time! Let me show you this beauty.

Emily De Molly Seeing Red

Emily De Molly Seeing RedDo you need a moment? You probably need a moment. Breathe. Good? Good! I started off with my usual Tip Top base coat and painted 3 coats of Emily De Molly Seeing Red. I could probably have stopped at 2, but I was hypnotized by this incredibly gorgeous polish. Seeing Red is a rasberry red linear holographic polish. The formula was perfection, I had no issues. I added triangular studs from Born Pretty Store (press sample) and stamped my index and middle nail with BP-03 (press sample) and Sinful Colors Black on Black. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite. You want to see it in the sun, don’t you?

You’re welcome. I wore these nails to the CT Mom Blog Meet and driving all the way there was a serious hazard. I couldn’t stop staring at these while I was driving. Another mani I was seriously bummed to take off.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this polish in the comments below 🙂 Can you see why I’m obsessed with it?

L.A. Girl 3D Effect Sparkle Ruby

Purchased Myself Button

Hi everyone! I’m still on holiday! Yay! Not for much longer I’m afraid, I’ll be heading back to work on the 12th of January. How about you? I have a stunning polish to show you today. I actually really love all the polishes I have from this collection. L.A. Girl has come out with so many cool “effect” polishes lately and I actually own quite a lot of them! I have quite a few from their texture collection as well as a couple of glitter polishes from their Splatter collection and a few of the 3D effect holographic polishes. The one I am showing you today is one of the scattered holos. Let’s get to it!

I started off with a base coat of OPI Nail Envy. I painted 2 coats of L.A. Girl Sparkle Ruby on all of my nails except my ring nail. Sparkle Ruby is a gorgeous deep red or maroon jelly polish with scattered holo particles throughout. This polish was quite opaque and I was able to get it opaque in two coats. It was also not a pain to clean up as some reds can be. On my ring nail I painted 2 coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black and placed 3 gold studs purchased from Born Pretty Store (purchase here*) from biggest (3 mm) to smallest (1 mm) from the cuticle upwards and sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite. Well that was easy, wasn’t it? The result:

L.A. Girl 3D Effects Sparkle Ruby

I loved wearing this mani. When I thought of how to describe it, the word ‘elegant’ seemed fitting. I literally felt so polished with this on my nails, like a real lady 😉 The holographic effect is also truly beautiful and has a lot of purple shimmers in it. I tried very hard to get a shot of the holo, but failed miserably. Pretty Girl Science has a couple of great swatches of Sparkle Ruby, Brilliant Blue and Teal Dimension from the collection in this post, head on over and have a look if you want to see the glorious scattered holos these polishes have to offer!

What do you think of this mani? It was simple to do, would you give it a try? Let me know in the comments below!

Purple Effect

Purchased Myself Button

Hello everyone! Two days after Christmas my mani chipped really badly and I needed to do a quick paint as not to sport naked nails. Since my love for polish blossomed, I just can’t stand to wear them naked. I did so for 32 years of my life without a second thought, but once the bug bit, I was hooked for life! I decided to pull out one of my untrieds that I’ve been looking forward to wearing and just do a plain mani. So this is actually more of a swatch post, with only 1 polish 😛 I do, however, have multiple photos because I just needed to capture this polish in all it’s glory.

I started off with my usual Tip Top base coat and painted 2 easy coats of L.A. Girl Purple Effect from the 3D collection on all of my nails. This is a dark purple jelly polish packed with scattered holographic particles. This polish removed like a dream too! It is rather opaque for a jelly. I tried 3 coats on one of my nails (not pictured) and I didn’t feel it made enough difference to warrant another coat. I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite. The result:

Isn’t that just beautiful?! I really love this polish! I didn’t even feel it needed anything added to it to make it awesome. This baby in the sun? Amazing! The photo really doesn’t do it justice.

What do you guys think of this polish? Do you think you could rock it? Let me know down below 🙂

December Nail Anarchy Challenge

Purchased Myself Button

Last month Nail Anarchy brought you outer space nails, this month it was my turn to select a theme. I was actually quite stoked since I just LOVE Christmas, so getting to pick December was special to me 🙂 After scratching my head for a couple of weeks I finally settled on “Christmas Tree!” as a theme. We’ve decided to keep our manis secret from each other this month, which just adds to the anticipation and excitement. I can’t wait to see what everyone else has come up with. We will have inlinkz at the bottom again to help you see all the rest and navigate between them easily 🙂 Let me show you what I came up with!

I started off with my usual Tip Top base coat. On my pinkie and index nails I painted 2 coats of Charlie Daring. I bought this polish on sale before last Christmas because I was hunting for a deep green to use to do Christmas tree manis and I used it to create this one. Daring has a gorgeous blue-green shimmer that is just beautiful. On my thumb, middle and ring nails I painted 2 coats of China Glaze Just Be-Claws. Ooooh, how I love this red! It is from the Happy Holiglaze collection and I really love it! Once all of my nails were dry I used tape that I purchased from Born Pretty Store (purchase here*) to cover the sides of my nails, leaving a triangle of nail exposed. I went in with essence Hidden Garden to fill in the triangles and removed the tape immediately. I placed a dot of regular top coat at the top of each triangle and placed a holographic star onto it, one nail at a time. I sealed everything in with 2 coats of Seche Vite. The result:

I drew inspiration for this mani from a photo I saw on Google. You can find the post here, but it isn’t in english. I think these turned out quite cute. I can’t wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

Brilliant Blue Snowflakes

I referred to my struggles trying to paint snowflakes in this post. I would, however, not be deterred! Even after I was extremely frustrated trying to freehand the snowflakes on my previous attempt, I tried a different brush and regular polish instead of acrylic paint and watched quite a few YouTube tutorials to try and do better. Let me show you what happened.

I started off with my regular Tip Top base coat. I painted 2 coats of L.A. Girl Brilliant Blue on all of my nails. Brilliant Blue is a dark blue scattered holographic polish from the L.A. Girl 3D collection. The formula was good and I didn’t have application issues, although this polish dries fast and if you go over the same spot twice too quickly it will create a bald spot on the nail. The texture felt like a jelly when applying it. I borrowed this polish from my friend. It is one of the 3D polishes I passed up on since I’m not really a fan of blues and personally I don’t feel that I *need* it in my collection. There is nothing wrong with it, but personal preference prevails. Once that was fairly dry I used a striping brush and Sally Hansen Sugar Fix white textured polish to free hand snowflakes. I went to shower and when I scrubbed my nails I brushed most of the polish off of my middle nail. I repainted it and then free handed the snowflake with Tip Top Armour Plate and the same striping brush. I sealed in all the nails that didn’t have texture on them with Seche Vite. The result:

L.A. Girl Brilliant Blue with free hand snowflakes

I was really MEH about these. I didn’t feel the snowflakes came out very well, more specifically the white one. I think the textured polish is perhaps a little thick and I wasn’t able to get thinner lines using it. I think the silver snowflake turned out much better! Perhaps because it was my 5th attempt. All that being said, I will most likely rather get a snowflake stamping plate before I attempt snowflakes again. Guys, snowflakes are really hard to do! Hats off to people who can get them looking decent just by free handing them!

While I was photographing this mani, Gabby ran into the room. I put down the polish to pick her up and put her on my lap and she promptly stuck her hand in my lightbox and picked up the bottle. She wanted in on the action! It was so hard to get her to sit still, but…

Gabby Nail ModelHow cute is that?! 🙂

Las Vegas Lights Butterflies

Hi everyone! Happy Friday and happy Halloween to those that celebrate! I’m working this weekend, so it isn’t much of a Friday for me, but I’m sure it will be over in no time and then I’ll have two weekends off again. Yay! Before I show you my nails of the day, I apologize in advance for any crap photos. I struggled my bum off to photograph these. I’m not sure if I was just having an off day or what. The bottle shape was so awkward to hold and when photographing the holo in the sun I could not see my screen at all, so it just sucked overall. Let me show you what I did for my last Pink October mani.

I started off with my usual Tip Top base coat to protect my natural nails. I painted two coats of Ice Box Las Vegas Lights (gift) on all my nails except my middle fingers. Las Vegas Lights is an awesome pink linear holographic polish. The formula on the Ice Box holographic polishes is outstanding. The full size bottles also come with a very wide brush (even wider than the essence brushes), so you can cover almost any nail with two strokes, you just need to be careful not to leave too much polish on the brush. On my middle nail I painted a silver polish (a mini L.A. Girl silver with no name) and then two coats of Rimmel Shooting Star. Shooting Star is a silver textured polish with small silver hex glitters in a silver base. The formula was easy to work with and it dried well. The texture isn’t very rough to the touch, but you can definitely see it. Once my nails were dry I place a butterfly decal from luckystarstyle on my ring nail. These decals apply quite differently to the Born Pretty Store decals I showed you here. You adhere these exactly like those temporary tattoos you get for children. You remove the protective plastic from the decal, stick it on your dry polish and dampen the decal with a wet cloth. The backing will easily slide away once the decal is stuck to your nail. These decals have clear backgrounds, so they show up best over lighter polishes. You should cut out the decal as close to the design as possible so that there isn’t any excess. This one can’t be cleaned up with acetone after it is stuck down. Also, once you place it on your nail you can’t lift it again, so be sure to place it exactly where you want it the first time. I used a fan brush dipped into Born Pretty Store Holo #7 to brush over my thumb, index and pinkie nails. You cannot see the fan brushing at all, but it did scatter the holo somewhat and add a bit more silver to the holographic effect. Nobody else is going to know it is there though. I sealed everything but the texture with a coat of Seche Vite. The results:

Ice Box Las Vegas Lights, Rimmel Shooting Star, Lucky Star Style Decal

Lucky Star Style Decal, Rimmel Shooting Star, macro

Lucky Star Style Decal, Rimmel Shooting Star, Ice Box Las Vegas Lights

I’m not sure if you can tell from the last pic that the holo is different on the pinky/index and the ring nail. I had something different on my middle nail before and really hated it. I wanted to take everything off. I realized that the middle nail was what was bugging me though and after changing it to the silver texture I am much happier with how this turned out. I absolutely adore this Ice Box holo and these pink butterflies look so cute on it!
