Hi everyone! It’s time for the next prompt in the #PPSAnailchallenge 🙂 This entire month all my nail posts will be for the Polished Pretties South Africa Nail Challenge. Polished Pretties South Africa is a Facebook group started by the Nail Anarchy ladies and we decided to do a month long challenge and open it up to everyone. You don’t have to be a member of the group to participate, but if you have a love for polish, why not join our group anyway? The challenge is also not compulsory for group members. It’s all just for fun 🙂 Here are all the prompts and the dates:
Today’s prompt is Sugar Spun. I actually picked this prompt because I have tried this before and failed. This was the only way I could force myself to not only try it again, but to make it work. Let me show you what I came up with:
I started off with my L.A. Girl base coat and painted 2 coats of essence #paradise on all of my nails. Oh my oath, how beautiful is this polish?! It has a gorgeous duochrome effect. I almost used it for my mermaid mani, because it is an awesome mermaidy colour. Before I had even started painting my nails I set aside some blobs of Tip Top Black Forest to get tacky. Thea from Madness Nails advised us to put Vaseline on our cuticles for easier clean up and boy I’m glad she did (and that I actually listened!) This was SO messy! I tried various methods of stringing the polish across my nail. From flipping my nail through a string to placing polish on my cuticles and pulling strings over. This technique is not as easy as it looks! See how much ring nail is not so stringy? It was hard! When I was happy with the effect I decided to top coat it. In hindsight I shouldn’t have. Sugar spun looks so much cooler when it is left textured. I placed a black stud on my pinkie and index. Voila!
What do you think of this? Have you tried the sugar spun technique before?
