Yes, I am! 😛
I have been eyeing one of my new essence polishes for a while. I picked it up on special at Dischem for only R9.99! The colour is called i’m bluetiful. It is a purple/blue shade with very fine silver glitter in it. My nails inc. topping lane has some stray blue/purple glitter in it and I thought these two would look beautiful together. I was right!
I started off with my regular base coat of Tip Top Miraculous Results and painted two coats of i’m bluetiful on all my nails except my ring fingers. I used the topping lane on those. I decided to test a theory of Ordinary Misfit’s and used my essence quick dry top coat instead of my usual Essie. Misfit thought that using a quick dry top coat of the same brand would mean quicker drying time than if you mixed brands. The same for matte top coat. essence usually dries pretty well for me if you do two thin coats. I did my nails at 9 ‘0 clock at night again so I didn’t really watch them dry or time them. I did wake up with badly linen printed thumbs which I just corrected with an extra top coat. Again, I must say how much I love the essence brushes. I don’t know if I am just getting better at painting or if the brush just really helps me not screw up. Either way, I had a lot less clean up to do this time around.
I must say, even though I paid a LOT of money for my nails inc polish, I don’t regret it. I really do love it. The glitter pay off is great. This is two straight coats of topping lane and it gives perfect coverage. In case you’re interested, it was R120.00 at Red Square.
Quite some time ago I bought tiny glitter hearts in an array of colours from Planet Nails and had a million ideas for what to do with them. I didn’t know how I would pick them up and place them though because they are so very tiny. I heard about a ‘picker uper’ and ordered one from Planet Nails. I waited about a month for them to get it in. They FINALLY did. So, of course I had to add a heart to this mani!
This tool is designed to pick up rhinestones, but you’re meant to be able to pick other stuff up with it too. I found with the first heart I placed, I picked it up, and the heart fell off the tool and onto my nail. Not where I wanted it or in the correct direction :\ When using the bigger side for my other thumb, it seemed to work better. I decided to only place one heart on each thumb because they are very raised and I wanted to test if they would catch or come off. I did put on a couple of layers of top coat to try and even it out, but there is still quite a bit of texture there. I don’t mind it though, I like to run my fingers over it absentmindedly. I think it helps me to go to sleep too (as if I need help).
That chip you see on the thumb? That happened in my sleep. Can someone please explain to me how you chip your nail in your sleep? I’ve never been very impressed with the essence quick dry top coat. This time around is no exception. It dries quickly and applies well, but it doesn’t really protect my mani like my Essie top coat does. I had tip wear on the first day of wearing my mani. Day 1! What the hell? I must admit that my nails are VERY long now and I am quite aware of them while I am typing. Bang, bang, bang on the keyboard. Perhaps this is contributing to the problem, but my Revlon mani that I had on before this I wore for 5 days before I noticed the tip wear and I’m sure my nails didn’t grow *that* much in 5 days. I’m not sure whether it is the polish, the top coat or my long nails, but my mani is already wearing and I’m bummed. I did it on Monday night and really hoped it would take me through the week. I’m not going to rush to take it off just yet, but I can’t see it lasting too much longer considering the wear I’ve had so far.
What do you think of these polishes? Would you buy them?
