I bought Ice Box Melon Ice from Ordinary Misfit‘s blog sale. It is a bright neon pink with a strong shimmer that looks like flecks in the polish. Let me rather show you.
I started off with a base coat of OPI Nail Envy. I painted all my nails except my ring nail with 2 coats of Ice Box Melon Ice. I painted my ring nail with 2 coats of essence hex hex magnetic polish. Hex hex is a dark charcoal colour. Once the pink nails were dry I used the bottom image of PUEEN 44 and hex hex to stamp over them. While scratching for something else in my nail drawer I spotted my Born Pretty Store neon studs and decided to add a pink stud to my accent nail. It was only then that I realized that Melon Ice is a very orange toned pink. I still like it though. The results:
I’m not really happy with my stamping. Although I do manage to transfer the image, it could/should be a lot darker/more opaque. I don’t know what I am doing wrong, but I’m going to start practicing my technique, perhaps on paper to try and adjust it. Stamping isn’t hard at all and I’m sure it is just something I need to tweak. I suspect I’m scraping incorrectly. Maybe at the wrong angle or too hard. I specifically tried not to scrape hard when I did this stamping and it didn’t make much of a difference. I’m going to experiment with different angles and see what works for me.
Have you tried stamping? Tell me about it!
