Happy Friday everyone! For our weekend away last week I was quite undecided about a mani. I eventually settled on wearing textured polishes, because it is possible to “patch” chips and tip wear. I thought this would be ideal for a weekend in the water. This mani was very simple and quick to do.
I started off with my usual Tip Top base coat to protect my natural nails. I painted 4 thin coats of China Glaze Teal The Tide Turns on all my nails except my index and middle fingers. On those I painted 3 thin coats of Shell We Dance? Teal The Tide Turns was quite sheer. After 3 coats I felt it needed another one and I regretted adding it because it wouldn’t dry properly and didn’t ‘texturize’ nicely. In hindsight I should have done 3 slightly thicker coats for opacity and optimal texture. I will certainly do this when I use it again. It is a gorgeous green polish with green glitter, while Shell We Dance? is a pinky coral colour with pink glitter. Obviously there was no top coat involved here. The results:
This mani felt so…simple to me. I guess I am used to having some sort of pattern or something flashy. It felt like solid colours and even though the colours were different, it didn’t feel fancy enough. I am weird, no? These nails survived my first swim beautifully, but the next day they chipped very badly. I actually didn’t even bother repairing them as we were leaving the next day and I was going to do a new mani anyway. I also wasn’t going anywhere else in the interim, so nobody was going to see 😛
Do you ever do your nails and feel they are too boring?
