Hello everyone! My mother’s cousin is around the same age as me and we grew up together. We were the only children around our age in the family that socialized with each other. A number of years ago she left the country to live and work in the United Kingdom. She is a CA and is now an official resident in the UK. She comes home to see her mother and do family admin about twice a year and I make a point of seeing her while she is here. She always spoils the kids with lovely clothes from abroad and this year she spoiled me too! She bought me 3 polishes, 2 of which I will show you today and an Essie Microdermabrasion Hand Refiner scrub. I was elated! She brought me Barry M polishes, a brand I’ve only been able to drool over online. I paired 2 of them for today’s mani. This definitely required more than 1 photo! Let me show you what I came up with.
I started off with my usual Tip Top base coat to protect my natural nails. I painted 2 very easy coats of Barry M Pacific on all of my nails. Pacific is a duochrome which shifts between blue and green depending on how the light catches it. Regular readers of my blog will know that I am not a fan of blue polish. I also steer clear of duochromes normally because I feel that they can often look brush strokey, or at least that is how I felt about swatches I’ve seen. I instantly fell in love with this polish! How could I not?! It’s so nice when someone buys you something that you would never buy for yourself and you end up loving it! Once my nails were fairly dry I used a make up sponge to sponge Barry M Atlantis on my pinky and index nails. I suspected that my Seche Vite was wrinkling the suspension bases of glitter topper polishes, so I decided to sponge on the next one I used so that there is less clear base floating around on the nail struggling to dry. I was really glad I did because it took 3 coats of top coat to smooth out this glitter, the fact that I basically removed the base from the glitter probably contributed to this. Atlantis has big and small silver holographic hexes, purple and blue diamond shaped glitter and irregular pink snippets of glitter. I don’t really know what shape the snippets are, but you can see them clearly on my index nail in the pictures above. Make sure that the the snippets are lying flat on your nail as they can stick up and be annoying. I originally planned to do a glitter gradient with Atlantis on my middle two nails, but I just couldn’t cover Pacific. I actually loved it that much! I sealed everything in with a coat of Seche Vite. I really loved this mani so much. The other Barry M polish is called Christmas Tree and I am saving that one for Nail Anarchy’s Christmas in July.
What do you think of this mani? This polish is to die for isn’t it? I am so lucky to have received it as a gift! I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below 🙂
