Yoga bum
I’m sitting inside the gym, fresh from yoga, blogging. Rudi had to go and fetch the housekeeper at 08:30, so he only just got here. I am waiting for him to finish his workout before we head out for the day.
Yoga was great today. Quite different from anything else we’ve done before. Our instructor helped me get my bum over my head! It was so awesome! I can swing my legs over my head, but the weight of my bum tends to flip me back down again. She has seen me struggling with this since last week, so she came to help me. I swung my legs over my head and she propped me up with her knee. She is such a tiny thing I was scared I might squish her or kick her in the face, but she has no qualms and has confidence in my abilities, so she wasn’t in the least scared of anything happening. I managed to lift my bum over my head and eventually got my knees touching my cheeks! It’s quite a comfortable position once you get into it. It’s so nice to have someone so encouraging and positive helping you. I’m really starting to LOVE yoga. I’m sure I’ll still dread coming, because I’m lazy like that, but I’m going to keep coming! I also managed to do a pose I normally struggle with easily today. The instructor always says, keep practising, it will come and I didn’t really believe that before today. I’m definitely going to be all kinds of stiff tomorrow!
Yesterday was quite exciting. KFM was giving away tickets to the Roxette concert here in Cape Town. They have been for quite a while, but I never entered. I happened to see a tweet from them saying that they have one set of tickets left and that you could just retweet to enter the competition. I retweeted it on a whim and forgot about it. Not too long after that I got a personal message on Twitter telling me I’d won two tickets for Sunday’s show! So exciting! My mother used to listen to Roxette when I was younger. One of their songs is also featured in one of my all time favourite movies, Pretty Woman. Finding a babysitter for Sunday has been a bit of a challenge since it is Mother’s Day and everyone has plans with their mom, or is a mom…but Rudi’s mom will be looking after Babyice while we go to the concert. I’m so stoked! I never win anything cool. If My Evil Mother and I were on good terms I would have taken her with me. Her loss.
Anyways…I’m going to go and see if Babyice is okay in Club V and maybe I’ll grab a bite to eat at Kauai while I wait for Rudi to finish. Have a lovely weekend!

Well done on the pose in yoga. I remember the first time I got one of the poses I struggled with right … went home and posed over and over
That is so cool about the Roxette concert. I can still sing-a-long to all their songs. Don’t tell anyone.
Congrats on winning the Roxette tickets – their music is awesome.
Well done for sticking out with the Yoga. I’m so very proud of you for sticking with the exercises. May I ask how much you’ve lost this far?
Thanks! There is a weight loss ticker on the left that you can keep your eye on…6.4 kg so far.
[...] highlights of my weekend were yoga on Saturday morning. I already blogged about Saturday morning’s yoga class. I googled the specific type of yoga I’m doing on Sunday and it certainly explained a lot! [...]
Well done on the yoga!
