Mother’s Day
The majority of this weekend was crap. Thanks go to Lindor ONCE AGAIN. My word I wish that guy would just pick up and move far, far away. I really do not wish him any harm that will do permanent damage, but I do want to be rid of him. Rudi and I spent Friday night and most of Saturday fighting about going there. Eventually he had me in tears on Saturday and bullied me into going there when I really did not want to. AGAIN. I’m so over it. Lindor did mention that he is going to be moving to Somerset West, which is too far to just pop by for a beer. I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him though, so it’s too good to be true until I can wave the moving truck goodbye. I did end up going there and it very nearly steered towards the usual direction of us ending up in a screaming match at their place because Rudi doesn’t want to leave, but it was very narrowly avoided.
The highlights of my weekend were yoga on Saturday morning. I already blogged about Saturday morning’s yoga class. I googled the specific type of yoga I’m doing on Sunday and it certainly explained a lot! The following excerpt from matsmatsmats.com:
Ashtanga (or Astanga) Yoga is the name given to the system of yoga taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This style of yoga is physically demanding as it involves synchronizing breathing with progressive and continuous series of postures-a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, flexibility, stamina, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. Ashtanga is an athletic yoga practice and is not for beginners.
It most certainly does generate an intense heat from within and is quite challenging! I still enjoy the classes, even though I might find another yoga class less challenging and I’ll continue to go to this one.
Mother’s Day wasn’t half bad. Rudi tried to make me breakfast in bed, but it was not meant to be. Babyice woke us up at 06:00 and is very attention hungry for his daddy of late. Rudi started breakfast, but soon there were tears because daddy couldn’t pick him up. Eventually I decided to get up and play with him to distract him so that Rudi could finish the breakfast. We had bacon, egg and fried cherry tomatoes with coffee. Rudi Babyice bought me one of my favourite Oh So Heavenly body washes. We went to church and our congregation had made a real effort for Mother’s Day. When we arrived each mother was handed a laminated bookmark wishing us with a poem and some chocolate in an organza bag. The Sunday school children sang for us, read poems and one of the little girls played the organ. We were served tea and cake in the side hall which was beautifully decorated. They had a banner, a table filled with snacks and balloons. Even the chairs were covered and had organza bows tied around the back! It was really lovely and I enjoyed it with my grandmother. I bought my grandmother some Oh So Heavenly talc, linen spray and hand and nail cream, all from their ‘Positively Pink’ range, some of the proceeds go to assist with reconstructive surgery for breast cancer survivors. After service we went to my MIL for lunch. Rudi cooked us a lovely lunch and then we were off to Roxette…I’ll cover the concert in my next blog post.
We left Babyice with the in laws for the night and went to pick him up to take him to the day mother this morning. I don’t think they will babysit for us very soon again! Apparently Babyice woke up at 1 this morning and refused to go back to sleep in his cot! Eventually my MIL went to sleep in the lounge and Babyice slept with my FIL in their bed. The cheeky bugger! He actually slept through again on Saturday night, but as usual we were forced to change his routine the very next day because we had plans outside the house. GAH. I missed him so much, but this morning he was only excited to see his daddy…I’ll smother him with kisses this afternoon when we go pick him up
I hope all my mommy readers had a good Mother’s Day!

I love how your congregation made such an effort for the mums.
Can’t wait to read all about Roxette
Ashtanga yoga is damn hard. It is a brilliant work out so well done to you for sticking with it.
Glad your Mummy day was better this year and I can’t wait to hear about Roxette.x
Your poor in-laws!
Sounds like a pretty good mother’s day to me.
