Leave, voting and fitness
Again a long gap between posts, I’ve been on leave and came back to work with a backlog of things to do. Once again we’re “assisting” another portfolio (yes, the same one) because they are in the red again. I honestly hate doing this type of work, but it needs to be done and I’m happy (not really *happy*…I tolerate it) to do it if it means I have a job.
I really enjoyed my time off. Even though I had to do housework, that didn’t take too much of my time and I was able to watch quite a bit of Supernatural. I’m watching it from season 1 again since I have run out of new things to watch. I’m quite behind on my series and not happy about it.
I had every intention of going to yoga on Saturday morning. I was actually quite excited about it…but Babyice had been sick for a few days and after nebulizing him and giving him meds and breakfast, etc. we realized it was already 07:45 and we were still in our pyjamas! (Yoga starts at 08:00). I was so miffed that I missed it since I’m working Saturday coming and wouldn’t be able to go. On Tuesday evening we went to gym. In the two weeks prior we went twice a week instead of 3 times a week because I was sick and then Babyice got sick too. I thought I might die. I wanted to do 40 minutes cardio, 10 minutes in I was so out of breath it felt like I’d never been to a gym in my life before. I decided to try and do some weight training and found myself struggling with *everything*. I couldn’t believe it! We only skipped two sessions in two weeks?! While we were there I noticed that there was a yoga class on Wednesday morning. Since it would be a public holiday I decided to go, even though it was with a different instructor.
I was nervous about attending a yoga class with a different instructor. I happened to meet her before class and told her that I usually do the Saturday morning class. It turns out she does the same kind of yoga! She really was very sweet (and supple!). I found that she did the flows much slower than my usual instructor. It was easier to keep up. We did a few poses that we haven’t done in my regular class. I also found it quite hard to hear her. She had the music turned up louder than I am used to. All in all I enjoyed the class and it didn’t put me off at all. I didn’t feel quite as stiff on Thursday morning, so I’ve decided I definitely prefer my instructor, even if her style is more strenuous
It was a public holiday on Wednesday because we were having our Local Government Elections. I was quite pleased to learn that I could still vote even though I didn’t register this time around. My previous registration (2009) was still valid
I went to vote straight after yoga. It was a complete breeze, there was no queue and I think I was out of there in 4 minutes flat! Murphy caught me though, the guy behind me at the voting station used to be in school with me. He was one of the popular guys in the class. He was wearing a smart shirt and pants and looked really nice. I was wearing my sweaty gym clothes and no make up. FANTASTIC! Not. Oh well…I don’t think he particularly cared how I looked anyway…was still embarrassing though!
Babyice has recovered well. He had a very runny nose that resulted in a cough. We managed to dry up his nose with meds and clear his chest with the nebulizer and he seems to have bounced back. I’m not sure if he had a cold or if his nose is just very runny because he is teething. He had a bum rash last night and the day mother said his nappy was very ‘loose’, so it’s probably still the teeth that are bothering him. He has a total of six teeth now…3 on the top and 3 on the bottom! The extra ones on the top and bottom have come out on opposite sides…so it looks all lopsided! He does seem to be getting the hang of trying to brush his own teeth. He INSISTS on doing it himself. Beware the tantrum if you try to take that toothbrush out of his hand! He even moves the brush back and forth. So cute
We’ve had to change his night nappy now. We made this decision after he woke up with wet clothes from his overflowing nappy a few times. Nelly recommended we try the Pampers Pull Up Pants for boys since she had the same problem. Since we’ve been using them he hasn’t had one overflowing nappy! The nappy absorbs in different places than the regular nappies and fit differently. They aren’t more expensive than his regular nappies, but they are NEVER on special so in the long run it might work out to more. He only uses one at night, so the pack of 52 we currently buy will last almost two months. That’s not too bad. They are a little tricky to get on, you have to be careful not to tear the sides, which are designed to be torn once the nappy is used. If you do end up tearing it while putting it on, the nappy is useless. It is also nearly impossible to put bum cream on without messing it everywhere. If anyone has figured out how to do this, please let me know!
I’m working this weekend and really couldn’t be bothered to, but I’ve been off for quite a few and my turn is up. Just remembered I still have to go to the nurse for my vitamin B shot. Hopefully I’ll get to post more regularly now. I have to get rid of those stupid feedbacks from the other portfolio first though!

I think its so cute that BabyIce brushes his own teeth!
Glad you enjoyed your other yoga instructor. I remember once I decided to go to a different instructor and she did a completely different type of yoga. Could hardly breathe the next day my tummy muscles were so sore
Yay for a non-leaky nappy! And I love that he brushes his teeth so cutely!
Ah, pull-ups. Its all Arkbaby could use for a while because all the others gave her a horrible rash. Try this: Put on his bum cream first (it will still mess, but not too much depending on how much you put on). Then put the nappy over his feet. Pick him up so he stands on his feet, and pull the nappy on like pants. Works like a charm
