YES!
We skipped gym on Friday night. Even though this set an alarm off in my head (as the beginning of the end) we swore we’d go on Saturday and we did. I went to yoga again. I always wonder about 10 minutes into the class why on earth I stepped in there in the first place. Yoga is HARD. Honestly I am too afraid to try pilates! About 20 minutes into the class I HAD to stop. I just stood up straight and stood still. The instructor came over to me and asked if I was okay and whether I was cramping. I told her I was feeling really nauseous. She asked if I had eaten (I had. Daft.) and recommended I just have some juice or something to drink in future. She then showed me the children’s pose to alleviate the nausea:
It worked like a bomb! I was mortified at the fact that I had to stop in front of the whole class and I HATE feeling sick. I completely choked up and almost started crying (bloody hormones – I blame them for everything). Taking the position recommended gave me time to collect my thoughts and pull myself towards myself before I continued. I couldn’t have been there for more than two minutes when I was able to get up and join the class again. The nausea was completely gone! I’m going to remember this if I ever get pregnant again. I hope it works for morning sickness!
I didn’t have time to weigh myself before yoga (I walked into class *just* before it started), so I had to weigh myself after. I don’t really like doing that because I also take my blood pressure and body at the machine and doing it after you exercise skews the results, but I *had* to do it since it had already been two weeks since I weighed. I was a tad afraid to get on the scale. We had been going to gym regularly, but we are still not eating right and it looms over my head. The only difference between the last weigh day and this one was that I was wearing my flip flops (since you do yoga barefoot) instead of my training shoes. I was SHOCKED when I stood on the scale. I had lost 2.4 kg! I think I’ll continue weighing once every two weeks. It certainly seems to yield better results! I cannot remember the last time I weighed what I weigh now. It’s been YEARS. My little weight loss counter on the side is suddenly looking much more cheerful
While I was taking my body fat (which mysteriously hasn’t dropped much) while Rudi came downstairs towards me. I couldn’t help but grin at him. You can tell from a distance whether or not the scale swore at me
I’ve been walking on a fluffy cloud since then
Once again I feel motivated and am happy to be going to gym this evening.
On Sunday we enjoyed a 3 hour nap with Babyice. We got in just after midnight after having a braai with some friends of Rudi’s in the complex and Babyice woke me up (it was my turn on baby duty) at 05:20. I was hungover, but knew he would go back to sleep eventually. Having such a long nap (or rather a continuation of sleep as we missed out on as much) was lovely and we woke up in the nick of time. We were due to visit my grandmother and her sister in Table View at 13:00. We went through for lunch since the two old ladies missed Babyice terribly and really wanted to see them. He was very shy when we first got there and just wanted to cling to mommy or daddy. Not long after he was running up and down and I had a lot of fun playing with him there. My great aunt was delighted (she’s very broody and there won’t be a grandchild forthcoming for her for quite some time) and loved watching Babyice run and play. She told me at some point ‘You know, I’m not really fond of boy babies, but Babyice is so very cute!’ Wah. She really calls a spade a spade, so I’ll take that as a compliment.
And now I’m back at work…first day of 12 consecutive working days. Hope I can keep my energy up!

To an extend it does work for morning sickness. The yoga peoples always said to not eat anything for about 2 hours before. Keep going with the yoga – every time will get easier. And BTW – are you breathing properly? Did she show you how to do a yogic breath? Maybe ask her – it helps so much.
I feel like some of it has gotten easier, but since my first class she has started doing things faster and doing some things I can’t do (like putting all your weight on your hands or closing your ears with your knees!), so it is getting more advanced faster than I am advancing.
She tells us to connect with our breath and to breathe in and out through our noses. Sometimes she will tell us to breathe in deeply and take a long breath out. Nothing else…?
woo hoo!
well done!! wow
never having been pregnant before – is it possible to get into that position when knocked up??!? lol
For most people morning sickness happens in the first trimester, before your baby bump arrives, so yes
Well done on the loss
You are inspiring! All my hopes of excercise and weigh-loss were sort of placed on the backseat when I started commuting from Pretoria to JNB. Luckily I only have 9 more days of commuting and then I will start with excercising, as weigh-loss and pregnancy is contradicting (at least in my eyes)
Why, thank you
I also don’t think that you should try to ‘lose weight’ while pregnant, but I’ve been told by two personal trainers not to stop training once you’re pregnant. Guess we’ll see if and when the time comes.
…and you don’t feel so tired, do you? TOLD you what you needed most was a little rest…
Well done. Now you’ll feel like getting back to it.
I didn’t know that the children’s pose helps for nausea (come to think of it I don’t know much about yoga to start with but the children’s pose thing is interesting).
Well done on the loss!
LOL, so what’s she going to do if she has all grandsons!??!
Yay! I am so happy for your loss and that the exercise and healthy eating is giving you results. Congrats.
I am going to remember this move next time when I am nauseous.
