Tweetup at Tables
On Friday morning we went to church and straight after headed to Nitida to meet up with some people from Twitter. Gina and family were visiting Cape Town from Johannesburg over the long weekend and we wanted to meet up with them and finally introduce all our kids to each other. There were quite a few people there that I hadn’t met. In fact, the only people that were there that I had met previously other than Gina and Paul were @alambchop, Sally and Tertia.
I have been to Nitida once before and remember liking their wine. Rudi and I decided to order a bottle of wine with lunch. Oh my! What a wonderful idea! Their pinotage is to DIE for! Rudi promised to help me finish the bottle…but I think I might have had more than him. As soon as it was time to leave I realized that it had hit me right between the eyes. I accidentally got drunk! Thank goodness everybody had left before I had time to throw my name away!
We missed the beginning of the tweetup since we went to church early on, by the time we got there some of the people were ready to leave (and did). I think I saw Tertia for all of 10 minutes (she is VERY busy you know
). I got to chat a bit with Sally who I haven’t seen in AGES, which was quite nice, but soon she had to be off too and back to her doting boyfriend and practically brand new baby. This wasn’t too much of a bad thing since we got to spend some quality time with Gina and Paul. Their new baby, Faith, is too gorgeous for words! She looks so much like her mommy
I managed to snap a quick pic of them:
All in all it was a rather nice morning spent in good company with good food and wine…what more could you ask for? Except for some more wine. I really should have took a bottle or two home.
On Sunday we had my family over for a braai. We went to church Sunday morning and we were quite surprised to see My Evil Mother pitch up for service. After church she cornered Rudi and I and said that she had made plans with my grandmother to spend the day with her, but now she hears she is coming to us, so what now? (My grandmother was not with us at the time) I had no choice but to tell her she could come too. I was quite annoyed at my grandmother for making plans with her when she knew she was meant to come to us. The braai was my grandmother’s idea in the first place! Guess what? My Evil Mother was LYING. SURPRISE! Not. Sneaky manipulative cow wormed her way into an invitation. I am NOT impressed. She sent me an e-mail today:
I just need to tell you. Ouma was confused between Friday and Sunday and that is why you think I lied to you about spending the day with Ouma. It was planned. When I asked Ouma to spend the day with her on Friday, she wasn’t available, so I told her Sunday. You can ask her and clear the air. I wasn’t lying to you.
I phoned my grandmother to clarify and she maintains that she did not have prior arrangments with her. GAH. Annoyed. I already have her e-mails on a filter so that they go straight to her own folder so I don’t see them (unread notifications drive me batshit)…but I spot them eventually and then go and look. I wish she would just leave me alone!!!

It was a fantastic morning and Im so glad we got to spend some time just us
