Busy Weekend

Sjoe. We had an uber busy weekend. We only really relaxed a bit on Friday night. Rudi went to gym (I stayed at home since I had already been Friday morning and intended going on Saturday morning).

On Saturday morning we went to gym. I saw my personal trainer there, he was actually training himself. It was good to see him doing the work for a change :) After gym we went home to get ready for grocery shopping. Babyice was having a sleep and we showered and got ready before waiting for him to wake up. We then headed off to Tygervalley to do grocery shopping. We must be crazy. Shopping on pay day weekend is madness, but we survived it. We also took Babyice for his first ever trip to McDonalds! He fed himself so nicely and ate almost his entire Happy Meal of chicken nuggets and chips. The Happy Meal only comes with a box of juice and I was giving him some juice, but squeezing the box to get the juice into his mouth. While doing this I realized that he was sucking through the straw with great success! @CamillaAE told me a while ago that their lives improved a lot once their son learnt to a) suck through a straw and b) blow his nose, so I was very excited! After all the shopping and chaos of unpacking and packing away (which STILL isn't done, since I couldn't find space for everything in the cupboard, despite throwing things out), we got Babyice ready to go and stay with the day mother for the night. We dropped him off and went to the party in town.

We got horribly lost on the way to the party, but eventually found the restaurant. The weather was beautiful (the party was outside) and the Sangria on offer was lovely. I only had a few drinks in the beginning of the evening and stopped drinking quite early on since I was designated driver. We left quite late for us early birds and got home around 1 AM. Since the party wasn't rocking as such I was quite disappointed that we got home so late as I would have appreciated to get some extra sleep since we didn't have to wake up at sparrow's fart for Babyice. He had a good night with the day mother and her two grandchildren. I had complete peace of mind with him staying there. Rudi wanted me to pick him up from the second we opened our eyes. We both miss him when he isn't around, despite being free of tantrums and poo bums.

On Sunday we went to Aunty Mona and Uncle Dan for a potjie. My cousin who is here from London was super keen since she hasn't had one for about 10 years and certainly won't get one in England. After picking up Babyice we went through to Tableview to get the potjie going since it usually takes quite a long time to make. The family wasn't home when we arrived and we waited about 20 minutes for them in the car. We had a lovely day (even though it was very hot) and Babyice hit yet another milestone while we were there! Rudi was feeding him his lunch when he reached for the spoon, scooped some food out of the bowl and put it into his mouth! First drinking through straws and then feeding himself! Yes, I'm happy, hence all the exclamation marks :) After the potjie we went to the in laws since Rudi's brother was visiting there and we had left his girlfriend's present at home the previous evening.

By the time we got home I was pooped. The house was a mess and I was completely overwhelmed by my fatigue and the amount of things that needed to be done. It makes me tearful, sometimes I just break down and cry when I feel that way. My Evil Mother called and asked if she could come over. I told her that I was exhausted and didn't want any guests.  I started packing things away and got Babyice into a bath. I then started setting out my clothes for gym and work for the next day before starting to head to the kitchen. Rudi had given Babyice his bottle and then told me to go shower. He washed the bottles for me and we spent the evening on the couch.

When I got up this morning I was still tired and didn't really feel like going to gym. I had an appointment with the personal trainer though, so I dragged my body out of bed and went anyway. The beginning of my cardio was boring and I still wasn't really into it, but about 5 minutes into the weight training we did I could feel the endorphins pumping! I suddenly felt a lot more awake and much better. I left gym feeling good and went home to have a shower before work. While I was getting dressed I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and noticed my stomach is smaller. I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see that! I weighed on Saturday and only lost 1 kg, but I am positive I am building muscle and can feel my clothes are fitting better. Muscle eats fat, so I'm super happy with that! I also noticed the PT gave me heavier weights today and I managed with them. I'm getting stronger, fitter and leaner. I feel GOOD! :D

    Well done on the training.
Just one thing I have to mention cause this is not something I want to “not” say. I too have children and they too adored the taste of McDonalds nuggets. But a few weeks ago, I read an article about how 50% of those nuggets contains chemicals and not meat at all. I was disgusted cause it freaked me out that I give my children food which have 50% chemicals in it which is absorbed into their bodies. Just a thought, I’m not saying you should not give it to your child. I just want you to know.

    HEHEHE!!!

I love babies reaching milestones. It means they are healthy nad happy and sooooo much less work for us! Since Mia started feeding herself it gave me 15 min extra me-time in the evening.

15 minutes is like a year in the mommy world!!! A good tip is to put old newspapers under his feeding chair, then he can “gan bos” and mess all he wants. You pick up the papers and just throw it in the trash once he is done!

Awesome! Well done my friend! I am very proud of you for sticking to your training regimen!
I can’t believe how much your little boy has grown already. Feeding himself, using a straw… wow!

Angel, you won’t believe it when you see him. He is HUGE. So tall and so big, waddling around catching on nonsense…I can barely believe it myself!
